Samira Bawumia, Ghana’s Second Lady has replied to pundits over remarks made against her after pictures of her and some cast of the popular Telenovela, Kumkum Bhagya series suffused on social media platforms.

The second Lady posted on her Facebook Timeline indicating that her meeting with the cast and some players in the Indian movie industry was for a possible collaboration between Ghana’s movie industry and Bollywood in order to boost interest in Ghanaian movies.

“Meeting with some key members of the Indian Entertainment Industry, exploring possibilities of collaboration to boost the budding movie Industry in Ghana”.

Samira Bawumia was in India for the International Conference on Women Trafficking in Mumbai, India; hosted by the Maharashtra State Commission for Women and the International Justice Mission.

With the love Ghanaians have for the Indian series, it comes as quite a delightful surprise to see our Second Lady, Samira Bawumia meeting some cast of the popular show.

Most movie industry players have strongly opposed the influx of these telenovelas in the country because it is killing the already struggling local movie industry.
