Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has scored the Nana Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government a little above 50 per cent after 23 months in power.

“Definitely, within the time frame, I would say [their performance] is over 50 per cent,” Mr Kufuor told Accra-based Joy FM on Monday, 10 December 2018.

Mr Kufuor added that: “They(current government) have a plate full of challenges which they are trying to tackle radically but given the time limits given to them, it is not easy, but I believe they have taken some far-reaching steps which should be appreciated”.

The former Ghanaian leader cited the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and other macro interventions as some positive actions taken by the government that deserves commendation.

Mr Kufuor also revealed that successive governments have not settled his ex-gratia after serving as President of Ghana from 7 January 2001 to 7 January 2009.

“I haven’t been paid ex-gratia,” he noted.

“The administration that took over from me pretended there hasn’t been such approval,” he bemoaned.

He, however, added that he was not worried by the actions of his predecessors as that is not his focus.

Even though the NPP is in government currently, Mr Kufuor maintained that what is due him has not been settled.
