National Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as ‘stupid’ and uncalled for’, utterances made by Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong over suggestions that he ‘exposed’ the identity of deceased undercover journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, leading to his death.

Some Ghanaians took to social media to express disappointment at Kennedy Agyapong for openly describing the residence of the late Ahmed and calling for his ‘beating’ should he visit his media premises. According to them, the statements subtly link him to the assassination of the young man since it exposed him and made him vulnerable to persons who may have wanted to kill him.

Lawyer for the undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Kissi Agyabeng, also called for Kennedy Agyapong to be questioned considering he incited the public against Ahmed through earlier comments he made after the release of Anas’ Number 12 expose´.

This was after Ahmed was shot three times; in his chest and neck in his car by some unknown assailants on his way home Wednesday at Madina. The Assin Central MP, following this responded to the suggestions while speaking to some Accra-based radio stations. He chided the lawyer for making such ridiculous statements and hit at persons who sought to imply he was involved in the dastardly act. He among other things called the lawyer ‘stupid’.

Touching on the issue on the sidelines of Ahmed’s final burial rites, Mr. Akamba said it was unnecessary his outburst if he indeed was innocent. Keeping silent for the appropriate bodies to investigate he said would have been the ideal and respectable thing for the legislator to have done.

He added that such things are happening under the Akufo-Addo-led government because everyone seemingly condones with Mr. Agyapong even when he commits errors; reason he feels free to act however he deems fit.

“If you would remember, Tiger Eye did work during Professor Mill’s era, nobody run him down, nobody condemned him, we rather worked with it, then his Excellency John Dramani Mahama, when another invitation was conducted, he went with it, Nana Akufo-Addo under his era, that He is the God of the country now, when he talks or does anything to anybody that is close to him, nobody should touch him. Just imagine, Kennedy Agyapong, they are saying you’ve made comments, he should have shut his mouth up, what he did was uncalled for, it’s stupid”.

“If you’ve been accused of something, let the police also investigate, but this is the intimidating factor, you heard him say he has called the CID Boss, the national security Director, because he has the power? So that they don’t intimidate him. So where is the investigation going to go? He is dropping names of the powerful people he has called so that they turn it around and go after some people. The NPP should raise the guy from the dead. If there’s a video circulating with you saying ‘anybody who gets him, beat him, what do you think? It’s sad”, he said.

He added that the murder cases in recent times are alarming and hence requires the urgent attention of the security agencies in the country.

“This murder is uncalled for, it’s getting too much, I mean just this weekend we heard about the murder of the GPHA lady, are you people not afraid of what is happening in this country?”.

“Today are you able to sleep? And these are just a little of the things going on in this country. The robberies that are going on in this country, the secret murder that is happening, you will not believe it, people are killing people. Armed robbers are attacking people and shooting them. The murder of this journalist that just happened”.
