House of Secrets - A must-watch play

Uncle Ebo Whyte and his Roverman Productions are out again, and as usual, with a hilarious yet lessoned outlay of how a man’s sordid past came racing up and eventually catching up with him – indeed a must-watch play.

On Thursday Ghana’s leading mobile telecoms company, MTN, sponsors of “House of Secretes” hosted a section of its customers and officials to the premiering of the play at the National Theatre in Accra.

View a 7:43 minutes clip of the play.

Judas Owuo (and the man deserves his name), for 17 years was a real thorn in the flesh of a married woman about to be appointed Foreign Minister, sees his biggest opportunity to blackmail her.

He is sure that the 17-year-old daughter of the minister-to-be is his daughter (for he assumed he impregnated the lady while they dated young, and abandoned her).

A paternity test however proves him wrong, and the rightful father who plays ‘mister upright’ to a fault and legally married to Judas’ former girlfriend, is all mocking as Judas schemes a lousy and desperate plot to claim what does not belong to him.

The spoofing Judas met his match, just as the distraught minister-to-be paid dearly for her unreasonable indulgence, and throughout the play, patrons were nodding and clapping and laughing and in tense moments, driven to tears as the 17-year-old secret haunted the family of 17 years.
