Anglican Church of Ghana donates GHC60,000 to coronavirus fund

In the fourth address to nation by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the novel COVID-19 pandemic, He informed the nation about the establishment of a COVID-19 Trust Fund which will be used to mitigate exigencies that may arise as a result of the pandemic.

The internal Province of Ghana of the Anglican Church in response to this call has made a donation to the National Trust Fund to help government fight COVID-19.

This donation was done on behalf of the province by the Diocesan Bishop of Accra Rt. Reverend Dr. Daniel S.M Torto due to restriction of movement currently in parts of the country, who seized the opportunity to say a word of prayer for the nation before the donation.

On their own part and being a major Christian denomination in Ghana, the Anglican Church donated an amount of GHC60,000.

The Chief of Staff, Frema Opare on behalf of the President and the government express profound appreciation to her church for the donation.

Rt. Rev’d Dr. Daniel S.M Torto is subsequently calling on other denominations to support.

He also gave reasons for such a deed and reiterated he was doing this on behalf of the internal province of Ghana.

A member of the delegation Venerable Dr. Joseph Lankwei Lamptey, the Archdeacon of Accra East appealed to the congregation and individuals to also support the fund.

Others members of the delegation were, Very Rev’d Dr. George Kotei Neequaye – Dean, Cathedral Church of the Most Holy Trinity and Venerable John Antonio Tello Nelson – Archdeacon of Accra West.
