We believe that more than any part of Kumasi, Kwadaso deserves that distinction, its own MDA.
Our sense is, if Kwame Nkrumah had not been overthrown, Kwadaso, as the site for the relocated hospital for expatriates (with the construction of KATH/Gee Hospital in central Kumasi), Kwadaso with its agricultural, industrial, research, and social services bent would have continued to be a growth pole - for the development of Ashanti Region, and Ghana, as a whole.
This is good idea, versus the shoot from the hip Create-A-Regions merely for the benefit of politicians who love Accra more than their neck of the woods.
This, with a good plan, is about development, agency, and local self-empowerment.

If Kwadaso wants to break away because of the population of 200,000 then Asawasi, Tafo, Asokwa and all the other suburbs also qualify to have their own assemblies because they also have the numbers. Superficially, fragmenting the KMA decentralizes the central governing power to the suburbs which will be a great idea if the governing sub-assemblies have the capacity to deal with the administrative and governing issues. Decentralization will only create multiple problems for Regional and National Local Government.
