Ashanti regional delegates of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are yearning to vote for former Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Joseph Yamin as the next Regional Chairman to face off with Chairman Wontumi of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), former Ejisu/Juabeng Municipal Chief Executive, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, has said.

According to Mr Ponkoh, Mr Yamin has the right skills to match Chairman Wontumi boot-for-boot in the region ahead of the 2020 polls.

The NDC is preparing for its internal polls to elect new national and regional executives who will steer affairs of the party for the next four years.

Speaking on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Monday, 30 April, Mr Ponkoh said: “In Yamin we trust, he is the one we are bringing as the Regional Chairman to meet up with Chairman Wontumi and the NPP.”

“Yamin has all the skills, the competencies and the experience to lead the party in the region to reduce the influence of the NPP.

“With Yamin, the NDC will really show President Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections”, Ponkoh said, adding: “The victory of the NDC is coming again.”
