Sammy Awuku has stated in strong terms that the New Patriotic Party, NPP, will not tolerate any member who attempts the taint the image of the party by sending colleague members or the party to court over matters that can be resolved internally.

He sounded the warning while addressing members of the governing party at the ongoing NPP-USA conference to elect new executives in the US.

“The NPP will deal with members who dragged the party to court without exhausting the internal procedures,” the national youth organiser cautioned.

He however assured that the party is waiting to complete all internal elections up to the election of national executives to take action on pending issues.

This comes after the NPP held elections for its polling station and constituency executives on February, 24. But some constituencies and polling stations could not undergo the exercise because of some unresolved issues.

Ablekuma North constituency election undemocratic, unacceptable – Sammy Awuku

John Boadu shortly after the elections told the media they have been able to make strides in resolving such issues, but about 14 constituencies were unable to elect their executives.

“…as we speak, some 94% of the constituencies in the country have been able to successfully conduct this exercise and elected constituency executives. We are left with 14 constituencies out of the 275. It is however gratifying to say that the party has made significant strides at resolving the issues in the remaining 5%.”

“By way of regional breakdown, there are 4 of such constituencies in the Greater Accra region comprising Ablekuma North, Ablekuma South, Adenta and Okakoi South. Aside Okakoi South which is still outstanding, we have been able to resolve the issues in the 3 constituencies and same have been taken out of court,” the acting General Secretary of the NPP had said.

Sammy Awuku touching on the matter in his delivery at the NPP-USA conference on Saturday, termed the polls at the Ablekuma North as “undemocratic” and “unacceptable” hence the need to conduct new elections for the area and other affected constituencies.

The NPP-USA branch on Saturday organised it’s delegate conference to elect new party executives which was attended by high ranking party officials including Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, Minister of Special Development Initiatives, Hawa Koomson, National Youth Organiser NPP, Sammy Awuku and others.
