We are yet to receive Prof. Mills’ autopsy - Mills' son

The son of the late President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, Samuel Kofi Mills has disclosed that the bereaved family including himself have not been served a copy of the autopsy report five years after his father passed on.

He made the revelation speaking to GHONE’s Kafui Dey at a short memorial service held at the ‘Asomdwee’ Park in the capital Accra.

This follows several speculations and assertions made by some family members of the late former President notably his brother Dr Cadman Mills who said some months ago that Prof Mills died out of a mild stroke.

Samuel Mills insisted that no family member could give any account of the cause of Prof. Mills’ death as they have no evidence to that effect.

He pointed out that, “I believe that in order for you to take an action or to want to know something, there should be some level of evidence and some level of facts. There have been several rumours and stories about what happened to him and how he passed on but until I see some concrete evidence I will not have much to say”

“I personally don’t know because the hospital never gave the family any autopsy report to show that this and this were the reasons why he passed away. So I don’t think any member of my family will be able to give evidence of how President Mills passed away,” he added.

Sam Kofi Mills insisted, “If someone wants to approach me or if we had to do any sort of investigation to find out, of course I will champion the course because he is my father and I want to know”.

This will certainly come as some impetus to the numerous calls from within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and some concerned Ghanaians for the cause of death of the country’s past leader to be investigated and made public to settle the controversy.
