Tension is brewing in the Ahafo Ano Constituency within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the nomination of the “suspended” constituency chairman, Joseph Agyemang Dapaah as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.

The announcement of the nominee has sparked confusion among the NPP youth groups in the constituency expressing disappointment in the President.

“We are not happy at all about Chairman Joseph Agyeman Dapaah as nominee for the DCE position. Nana Akufo-Addo has disappointed us. We want someone who can read and write well”, leader of concerned youth of Ahafo Ano South, Kwadwo Asare told mynewsgh.com.

According to the leader, Joseph Agyeman Dapaah was suspended prior to the 2016 election for his verbal attacks on the NPP flagbearer at the time by regional executives of the party and therefore his nomination must be given a second look.

The nominee was reported to have said Nana Akufo-Addo can never be president for perceived divisions in the party at the time vowing to do everything humanly possible to ensure the flagbearer does not succeed to become President of the Republic.

Based on this, the youth claim the “suspended” chairman cannot be trusted in any position to perform the work of the President on behalf of the party and government.

They also claim the nominee squandered monies meant for party agents and cannot trust him to take care of Assembly Funds and Common Funds in the event he is endorsed by the assembly members.
