Sacked Judges question Akufo Addo’s decision as matter is still in court

Three High Court Judges dismissed by President Akufo Addo have vowed to fight their case to its logical conclusion in international court.

The three Justices, Paul Uuter Dery, Mustapha Habib Logo and Ayisi Addo were dismissed following recommendations by the Chief Justice’s Committee set up to investigate revelations in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas judicial corruption expose.

The Committee concluded that the conduct of the judges amounted to a criminal offence.

President Akufo Addo in a statement announcing the dismissals said the Police CID has been tasked to take up the matter.

But lawyer for the Judges, Nii Kpakpo Addo in an interview with Joy News is questioning the decision of the President because the matter is in court.

“They remain focused on their case in the ECOWAS Court which is coming up on the 23rd of January 2019. Now the Republic of Ghana is fully represented at the court by the Office of the Attorney General and we would have expected that knowing that this case is coming on, all parties would have held back and waited for the decision of the court before any party will then act based on how the court will rule, but if Ghana has decided to go ahead with their removal they remain unperturbed, They intend to see this matter to its logical conclusion at the ECOWAS Court and maybe at the African Human Rights Court.”
