New York Attorneys storm e-Ananse Book Reading as part of Year of Return

The Association of Black Woman Attorneys (ABWA) in New York who recently celebrated their week-long retreat in Ghana stormed the 3rd edition of e-Ananse book reading in Osu last Wednesday.

The event, themed “Celebration of Toni Morrison'' saw a large delegation from the Association of Black Woman Attorneys in New York among others.

The visit was rendered more significant as it coincided with the ‘Year of Return Celebrations’ of Ghana, instituted to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

The ABWA team who was hosted recently in Ghana by the Institute of International Affairs, Ghana said as part of their visit to the country decided to be available at the Celebration of Toni Morrison.

''Our visit to Ghana can't be completed without paying attention to the renowned writer Toni Morrison. She did well in her duty as a writer, won many awards and we are glad to be present here. It is an honour to be able to have undertaken this trip. For many members of ABWA, this is a pilgrimage to connect with our heritage,” said Tanya Blocker – President of ABWA in an interview with The New Publisher.

Six renowned writers, namely Bisi Adjapon, Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond, Kofi Akpabli, Mamle Kabu, Empi Baryeh and Nana Awere Damoah in all took patrons through all the concepts of Toni Morrison books.

The e-Ananse Libraries are to help revitalize Ghana’s reading culture and provide people with the tools to compete in the 21st Century by giving them access to high-quality contemporary literature, state-of-the-art computing facilities, and world-class literary events.

Each library has an e-Ananse technology hub, christened the Innovation Hub, which is equipped with internet-enabled PCs to give library-members access to the full range of resources available on the World Wide Web.

West Blue Consultancy aims at using the concept to help improve the standard of education in the country.

The General Manager, Mr. Kingsley Abeyieh, said the libraries are opened every Tuesday to Friday from 12pm to 8pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 6pm.
