An Aspiring National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye popularly called ‘Nana B’ has admonished leadership of the party to conduct internal elections devoid of insults and personal attacks.

The incessant insults and character assassinations he believes will distort the peace and unity the party has maintained over the years.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) on Sunday, August 20, 2017, he called for a clean and decorous election devoid of divisions.

He called on his supporters not to engage in any reprisal attacks but to be focused on winning the enviable position ensuring his commitment to the success of the upcoming elections.

‘Friends, I pledge to remain committed to ensuring that this contest is conducted devoid of any rancour and acrimony and would urge all of you, particularly those who believe in the Perfect Replacement agenda to remain calm but rather project my competence and positive values. This contest will be done and we should not travel a rather tortuous path in restoring our cohesion after,’ he advised.

Nana B further urged his supporters to take a cue from the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who refused to be distracted by similar attacks.

‘I will take a cue from our Party’s leader and Ghana’s President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who suffered the height of similar attacks but remained unimaginably focused and ask that we do not get distracted by these low moments,’ he entreated.

The NPP’s congress will take place in Cape Coast in the Central Region on Saturday 26, 2017 to elect new executives.

Read details of Nana B’ statement:

I have always maintained that Internal contests are purely Family affair and should always be approached as such. We risk losing our cohesion and unity when we resort to vile Propaganda and Personal attacks in our quest to enhance the chances of our preferred Candidates in contests like these. I am well aware of the incessant attacks directed at my Person by some party faithful who do not support my agenda. I equally appreciate the growing concerns from my associates over these attacks. I reckon the strong temptation to respond in equal measure but will plead for calm and restraint in the supreme interest of keeping our Party’s cohesion. Friends, I pledge to remain committed to ensuring that this contest is conducted devoid of any rancour and acrimony and would urge all of you, particularly those who believe in the Perfect Replacement agenda to remain calm but rather project my competence and positive values. This contest will be done and we should not travel a rather tortuous path in restoring our cohesion after.I will take a cue from our Party’s leader and Ghana’s President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who suffered the height of similar attacks but remained unimaginably focused and ask that we do not get distracted by these low moments.

The sole aim remains finding a formidable leadership for our Party’s teeming Youth and we can’t help but keep this contest clean and convivial.
