Whilst various stakeholders including the clergy have consistently condemned both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for being behind for the proliferation of vigilante groups which they argue is a threat to the country’s democracy, a staunch member the governing party thinks otherwise.

According to Mr. Yaw Adomako Baafi who is a former Communication Director of NPP, vigilante groups associated with his party are far better than their rivals in the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Baafi’s statement comes as a response to the ‘disgraceful’ act at Ashanti Regional headquarters by some alleged members of the NDC who stormed the party’s meeting firing gunshots and killing one as reported by MyNewsGh.com on Monday.

One person was confirmed dead while two others sustained serious injuries after the gunmen opened fire at some persons at the regional headquarters while executives were locked up in a reconciliation meeting with the top brass of the party.

Another victim is said to be in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

But Mr Adomako Baafi who was speaking in an interview with Kumasi based radio Otec FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com emphasized that his party’s vigilante groups have better records than the NDC.

“It will be a lie should I say we (NPP) do not have vigilante groups. We have Invisible Forces and Delta Forces. But have you seen either Invisible or Delta Force shooting at people? Have you heard that before? He quizzed.

“Because our party is peaceful and also train our members in a peaceful manner, you won’t hear such things from us. Nobody can challenge that the Delta Force has a bad record”, he said.

“But for the NDC, even Former President John Mahama has stressed that it their character” Yaw Adomako Baafi shaded.
