NDC takes a lead in 72 confirmed presidential results

Accra, Dec. 9, GNA - The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor John Atta Mills, has taken a slim lead in last Sunday's presidential election with 1,390,672 votes representing 49.96 per cent of the valid cast in 72 certified constituencies by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Tuesday. The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, follows closely with 1,315,169 votes representing 47.25 per cent. Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, candidate of the Convention People's Party, comes a distant third with 36,831 votes, representing 1.32 per cent.

The People's National Convention's (PNC) Dr Edward Nasigrie Mahama is fourth with 23,517 votes representing 0.84 per cent, Mr Emmanuel Ansah-Antwi of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) fifth with 8,899 votes representing 0.32 per cent and Mr Kwesi Amoafo-Yeboah, independent presidential candidate occupies the sixth spot with 4,140 votes representing 0.15 per cent.

Mr Thomas Ward Brew of the Democratic People's Party occupies the seventh position with 2,461 votes representing 0.09 per cent and Mr Kwabena Adjei of the Reformed Patriotic Democrats last with 1,829 representing 0.07 per cent.
