MP exposed over plot to rundown Mahama boy

An alleged plot hatched by the People’s National Convention (PNC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa- South Constituency in the Upper East region, Hon. Alhassan Azong against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the same constituency, Dr. Clement Apaak has been uncovered.

The incumbent MP who is seeking re-election for the third time is also the Minister of State in charge of Public Sector Reforms.

In a one- page document chanced upon by this reporter detailed how Hon. Azong and his team plan to scuttle the parliamentary ambition of Dr. Apaak who is also a Presidential Staffer.

What is strange about this, is the fact that there is nowhere in the document that the incumbent MP spelt out how his campaign message will be.

In the said document which is titled: “Operation 3rd term for Azong”, it said, “We will use serial callers in the NDC as well as some of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicators to fight him (Dr. Apaak) in the media on national issues”.

It continued: “Let’s ensure that the Citizens ‘Complaint Centre (CCC) which Dr. Apaak is the head does not get any positive media attention and even if there will be any media publicity it should be negative.

It further said, “let’s tell the Builsa South constituents that, Dr. Apaak has been promised ambassadorial position (Canada/UK) and that, voting for him will be a waste.


“Also try and pollute the minds of the constituents that, Dr. Apaak is a stranger to the constituency.

“Let’s plant people in his camp in the constituency to get us more information about Dr. Apaak’s strategy and if possible record his conversations”.

It went on to say “let’s make sure we have some big shots in the NDC to support our bid.

“And let’s target those who are not in good terms with the president and our target should not only be people from the north”.

It further went on say, “we must give the constituents farm implements including motor bikes, bicycles, cloths, and as well pay their wards school fees for them to woo their votes.

“We must also give money to the chiefs and some opinion leaders in the constituency to make sure that, votes from Hon. Azong’s stronghold are intact.

The document concluded that, “let’s employ young men and women to do house- to -house campaign for Hon. Azong.”

However when Hon Azong was contacted for his reaction to the allegations he did not answer phone calls placed to his phone with mobile number 0244229114.

He sent this reporter a text message saying he was in a meeting. This reporter replied his text messages with facts of the story for his side but he did not revert till the time of publication (7 A. M.).
