I didn’t collapse, was never rushed to 37 Hospital – Akufo-Addo

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has dispelled rumours he was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital over the weekend for immediate medical attention after collapsing.

According to the president, his presence at the facility was for a visit to a relation who had taken ill.

Laughing off the reports which went viral on social media on Sunday, President Akufo-Addo said he is ‘in the hands of God almighty,’ adding that “all those whose political fortunes depend on my ill health and degeneration, all I can say is that, we are all in the hands of the almighty.”

Speaking at the National Cyber Security Awareness month held at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, the President said “My presence on the re-visit to the Military hospital yesterday to visit my brother in law, the famous pilot, Captain Pius Mensah, who is unfortunately there for hip operation has been translated into my collapse on social media”.

He added that, all who seek his downfall should note that God is the caretaker of everyone, a quote many believe is aimed at dispelling rumours he may be suffering from an ailment.

Mr Otchere-Darko, cousin of the President earlier tweeted that President Akufo-Addo was fit and ready for his rather busy work schedule on Monday. His tweet also questioned the motive for the spread of such ‘false speculations’. It read, “So, the President cannot visit a hospitalized in-law at 37 without false speculations? Visit is done. He is home. Doing what he knows best: preparing for work in the morning.”
