Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Attah on Monday presented to parliament a Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review of the 2019 Budget Statement and economic policy as well as Supplementary Estimates of the Government of Ghana for the 2019 Financial Year.

This was in accordance with Article 179 (8) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana and Standing Order 143 of parliament.

Highlights of the ministers’ presentation included the performance of the economy within the first half of the year.

On this he said even though targets set out by government at the beginning of the year were not met, he is positive of a robust turnaround in the economic fortunes of the country within the second half of the year.

Mr. Ofori Atta also revealed that, government as part of measures to increase its revenue will increase some taxes such as the Energy Sector Levy and Call Tax.

He however indicated that government was going to withdraw the controversial Luxury Vehicle Levy introduced in 2018.
