President Akufo-Addo has revealed some startling details about an outbreak of COVID-19 at an industrial facility.

The president’s disclosure comes after an update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on May 8, 2020, which indicated that about 50% (533) of some 900 new recorded cases was as a result of an outbreak in an industrial facility.

"It is important to stress that five hundred and thirty-three (533) out of the nine hundred and twenty-one (921) new cases recorded between last Wednesday and Thursday are factory workers from a fish processing factory 2 located in Tema."

The president further revealed that the outbreak at the factory was as a result of one worker who contracted the virus infecting over 500 of his colleagues.

"All five hundred and thirty-three (533) persons were infected by one (1) person." He Added

The president, who throughout his address stressed that government was doing everything right to ensure the containment of the virus, said the increase in the number of recorded cases in the country over the past days have been as a result of the decision to embark on an enhanced and aggressive contact tracing and testing.
