Compassion International Ghana supports Noguchi Institute, GHS

Compassion International Ghana (CIG) has presented a cheque for GH¢50,000.00 each to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Institute (NMIMR) and the Ghana Health Service for their support in contributing to COVID-19 response.

Mrs Gifty Dansoa Appiah, the National Director, CIG who presented the cheques said the leadership and the Advisory Council of CIG thought it prudent to support the institutions for their selfless commitment to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Mrs Appiah said the Organisation on June 4, presented a cheque for GH¢ 100,000.00 to the COVID-19 Trust Fund to support the government in fighting the pandemic which had engulfed the world.

The National Director noted that as an organisation that was Christ-centred, Church-based, and Child-focused, they would continue to pray for the government and all frontline workers to fight the unseen enemy that had disrupted the life of the country.

She said the CIG had operated in the country for 15 years and together with its Church partners, the organisation supported over 90,000 vulnerable children and youth in deprived communities.

Mrs Appiah said the Organisation with the help of its partners had focused on the holistic development, cognitive, spiritual, and emotional aspects of vulnerable children for a better future.

According to her, the Organisation over the last two months had rolled out special interventions including; the provision of targeted food to support vulnerable households in the communities where it operated.

"During this pandemic, we have provided food and other household items worth over GHC1.7 million to some 34,500 households in deprived communities and embarked on the distribution of face masks to all the children and youth in our on-going programme,” she said.

She pledged CIG’s commitment to continue to support the many vulnerable children living in deprived communities and registered in their programme to improve their living conditions.

CIG currently operates in 10 out of the 16 Regions with the mission to release children from poverty in Jesus' name.

Professor Abraham Annang, the Director for NMIMR, commended the Organisation for the gesture, saying the support would boost their morale to continue to give their best to improve service delivery.

He said the Institute specialised in research services while the Organisation dealt with the psychological wellbeing of children which signified partnership for national development.

The Institute presented 90 pieces of facemasks to the organisation to be distributed to children in the wake of the pandemic.

Dr Patrick Kuma Aboagye, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service thanked CIG for touching the important component of the human being especially in improving the outcome of child health.

Present at the ceremony are Dr Ike Tandoh, the Public Relations specialist, CIG, and Mr Benjamin Asare Yeboah, Senior Manager in charge of Partnerships, CIG.
