General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia says if the opposition’s definition of the works of President John Dramani Mahama in the past four years is what they term “incompetent”, they may as well call him “incompetent General Secretary”.

Speaking at NDC’s Greater Accra Region’s final rally, which attracted big wigs of the party to the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, Mr Asiedu Nketia said President Mahama’s achievements may have dazzled the opposition.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) especially by its flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, have continually referred to the Mahama-led administration as incompetent, much to the chagrin of the president.

General Mosquito, as the NDC General Secretary is affectionately called, said the description of President Mahama as incompetent by the two political leaders gives a construction that “incompetence is good”.

“So, me too call me incompetent General Secretary,” he charged the mammoth crowd, insinuating he has done good works to merit such description.

Speaking local language Twi, the former Member of Parliament noted that the intentions of Ghanaians come Wednesday are clear.

That is, he revealed, to retain President Mahama and get a majority of NDC MPs in Parliament.

Monday’s rally was addressed by some of the party’s big wigs including National Chairman Kofi Portuphy, Greater Accra Region Chairman Ade Coker, Leader of Zongo for Development Alhaji Sinare and Odododiodio MP Nii Lantey Vanderpuye. President Mahama and Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur also addressed the crowd.
