‘Blow’ WASSCE to shame Free SHS policy opponents – Akufo-Addo to students

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Akufo says he expects nothing but excellent results from final year students under the Free SHS policy who’ll be writing the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in June 2019.

The programme which was introduced in 2017 has experienced some challenges including inadequate classrooms. But government says it will not review it though there have been calls from the opposition to do so.

Speaking at the 70th Anniversary celebration of the Prempeh College in Kumasi on Saturday, President Akufo Addo advised final year students across the country to excel in the exams.

“You’re the first beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy and you’re scheduled to write WASSCE in June next year. You should always remember that there are some powerful political actors in our country who never wanted and still do not want the policy. They described it as a gimmick, declared it attainable only after 20 years, said it was too expensive and now they’re saying when they come back God knows when they will review it.”

President Akufo Addo added: “Final year students you have a big responsibility to make sure that your grades in the examination is positive and exemplary. Make good use of the past questions and answer booklet procured from the West African Examination Council to help you in your study.”
