Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has honoured the memory of the late Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom, Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Eulogising her, the former president expressed his admiration for how Nana Konadu Yiadom III demonstrated unwavering commitment to preserving the traditions and values of the Ashanti Kingdom throughout her reign, describing her as ‘an adorable queen of grace and wisdom’.
Former President Akufo-Addo recounted his relationship with the late Queen Mother, sharing how he enjoyed a close friendship with her and often visited to greet her during his tenure in office as the president of Ghana.
He made this known in a Facebook post on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

“The late Asantehemaa was an adorable queen of grace and wisdom, who was fully committed to the values and traditions of the great Asante kingdom. She had a successful eight-year reign, and we had a good and fruitful friendship. Anytime I was in Kumasi, I did not hesitate to seize the opportunity to visit her to convey my regards,” he posted.
The former president further expressed his condolences to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his loss, and offered prayers for Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III in her transition.
“I grieve with Otumfuo, the Asantehene and Asanteman on such a sad loss, and pray that her venerable soul receives peaceful rest in the Bosom of the Almighty, until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again,” he added.

Former President Akufo-Addo received a delegation of chiefs from the Manhyia Palace, representing the Asantehene, to officially inform him of the Asantehemaa’s passing.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III died at the age of 98 and after her eight years reign as the Asantehemaa.
Her death was confirmed by the Oyoko family to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at an emergency Asanteman Traditional Council meeting on Monday, August 11, 2025.
