Antigraft crusader, Paul Collins Appiah Ofori has warned that the country risks losing the services of the Citizen Vigilante, Martin A.B.K Amidu as the Independent Special Prosecutor if there are attempts to manipulate his work in his new office by appointees of the current government.

“If anybody interferes with his work he will just resign and go in no time…you know Martin Amidu he is very independent. He will just dump the work and leave. The AG was appointed by the state and if the AG tries to interfere and it is brought to the attention of Nana Akufo-Addo he will not be happy”, he told Tamale-based Diamond Fm in response to a question on how truly independent he will be drawing his powers from the Attorney General’s Department.

He disclosed that the President’s resolve to fight corruption is unquestionable and will need persons who share in such vision help him fight it ruthlessly explaining that Martin Amidu is one of such persons.

“Akufo-Addo is anxious to fight corruption and will need people who will fight it ruthlessly and not people who will just cover up irregularities. The AG will also support Akufo-Addo and Martin Amidu because it is the AG who submitted the name to Martin Amidu so if he succeeds it is a plus to the AG”, he disclosed.

According to him, Martin Amidu remains the right person for the job but cautioned against interference as it has the tendency of seeing him quit the job and the country will become the bigger loser in the matter and there will be an upsurge in corrupt practices in the country.

On claims the office of the Special Prosecutor will be used to witch-hunt only past officials, he said that is not the case but adverse findings that have been made against appointees past and present.
