Former Youth Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Yaw Brogya Genfi has categorically stated that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will no matter what relinquish the presidential seat to former President John Dramani Mahama in 2020.

According to him, no amount of antics from the NPP especially the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, will change that.

This was in reaction to allegation that some Ashanti Regional NDC executives are on Chairman Wontumi's payroll.

Speaking on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ Morning Show, Brogya Genfi said most of the things Chairman Wontumi is saying are mere talks which don’t have any effect on the NDC in the Ashanti Region.

“But I don’t think with the NDC Parliamentary Primaries, he [Wontumi] can choose who should stand for the party in the region. If you go to the Ashanti Region, out of the 47 constituencies, we have conducted primaries in only 7 constituencies and we chose the candidates ourselves, and with the remaining 40 constituencies, we have not opened nominations yet and so how come Wontumi has chosen candidates for us?” he wondered.

He, however, assured that the NDC Regional Executives elected in the Ashanti Region have the experience and are well aware of the capabilities of Chairman Wontumi.

“. . and aside it being their stronghold, the NPP is in power now and so they may try to do a lot of things, but I believe that the NDC Regional Executives over there will be able to match them,” he assured.

He reemphasized that nobody is ready to give Akufo-Addo a second term due to the mismanagement of the economy.
