$50,000 Anas bribe claim 'biggest lie' – Baako

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Kweku Baako Jr., has refuted accusations that his protégé Anas Aremeyaw Anas demanded a $50,000 bribe from a chief of Tamale to drop a case, saying: “It’s a lie of the biggest order”

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Kweku Baako Jr., has refuted accusations that his protégé Anas Aremeyaw Anas demanded a $50,000 bribe from a chief of Tamale to drop a case, saying: “It’s a lie of the biggest order”.

Mohammed Hafiz Abdullah, the Dema Naa of Tamale, made the revelation on Net 2 TV on Friday, 1 June 2018.

He claimed Anas demanded the money as bribe to kill a scandalous story about him. Additionally, he said a friend of his also had to part with $50,000 to Anas in line with the same purpose, bringing the bribe to a total of $100,000

The claims by the Tamale chief come in the wake of similar accusations by Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, who has vowed to “strip Anas naked”.

However, on Saturday, 2 June 2018, Mr Baako, who was a guest on Multi TV’s current affairs programme Newsfile, said: “This gentleman, Mohammed Hafiz, was a subject of investigation by the New Crusading Guide in 2009 and that investigation was led by Anas.

It was in a 5.7 million gold scam and Anas’ investigative team collaborated with the police and went to the gentleman’s house to arrest him. It became a running battle between Anas and this gentleman and the newspaper. Eventually, the police took the case to court, the gentleman was charged. The judge who presided over that trial was Justice Quist, I don’t know if the name rings a bell, then something went on in court then everything was ‘basaa’ – to wit, haywire. That was the beginning of the decision to put Justice Quist on the radar [and] eventually in 2015/2016 Justice Quist was busted by Tiger Eye”.



Justice Quist was one of the High Court judges who was removed following the judicial scandal exposé by Anas, which resulted in the suspension of 22 circuit court judges and magistrates and 12 High Court judges.
