Thomas Partey has opened up on his situation at Atletico Madrid, revealing that he "sometimes" feels "unhappy" at the club due to his lack of regular game time.

The Ghanaian international has struggled to make it into Diego Simeone's starting eleven this season following the arrival of Thomas Lemar and Rodri.

He has participated in 19 of Atlético’s 23 LaLiga and Champions League games, although the majority of those have been from the bench.

So far this season, Partey has played an average of 59 minutes in the 21 games that he has participated in. Last season, his average game time over 50 games was 68 minutes.

"Sometimes I feel unhappy at Atlético," stated Thomas an interview with the Spanish TV channel, Gol. “You have to play in the important games to feel happy, to feel stronger and more confident.”

He, however, believes he has had "very good” first half to the season. "There have been games that I have played well," he concluded.

The 25-year-old has scored two goals in all competitions this season.
