Parliament goes on recess till January 24

Parliament is going on a break from Wednesday 11 January and reconvenes on Tuesday, 24 January, 2017.

The adjournment is supposed to give an opportunity to the Committee on Selection to constitute other committees to conduct the duties of parliament effectively.

Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu announced on the floor on Wednesday that a seminar would soon be held for new legislators.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Ocquaye, on Wednesday read to the house, a list containing 12 more ministers-designate named by President Nana Akufo-Addo for vetting.

They include Okere MP Dan Botwe, who will become the Minister of Regional Reorganisation if passed by parliament. He is expected to see to the creation of additional regions as promised by Mr Akufo-Addo during the 2016 campaign.

Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng – Science, Environment, Technology and Innovation

Otiko Djaba – Gender, Children and Social Protection

Joe Ghartey – Railway Development

John Peter Amewu – Lands and Natural Resources

Samuel Atta Akyea – Works and Housing

Kofi Adda – Sanitation and Water Resources

Ignatius Baffour Awuah – Employment and Labour Relations

Kweku Ofori Asiamah – Transport

Kwesi Amoako Atta – Roads and Highways

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful – Communications

This brings to 25 the number of ministerial nominees made by President Akufo-Addo.
