Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yammin has said the Government of Nana Akufo Addo cannot escape blame for the glaring corruption that was superintended over by the suspended Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei, MyNewsGh.com reports.

He says the practice by the embattled public officer was orchestrated and arranged with full government endorsement, but the president is only window dressing the issue by suspending Mr. Adjei just to shield him from prosecution.

“This whole thing was arranged and perpetrated by the government; they just put him there to sell the contracts, so that they would share the spoils and that is why President Akufo Addo cannot sack him after the investigations because he has no moral courage to do so”. He said.

Yesterday, President Nana Akufo Addo suspended with immediate effect the Chief Executive of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei and referred him to the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the Special Prosecutor for a probe, following a video documentary by freelance journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni in which he was seen allegedly selling government contracts through his own private company Talent Discovery Limited (TDL).

Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has formally written to the suspended CEO to make himself available for investigation following allegations of corruption leveled against him.

“You are hereby requested to come along with all information and documents including relevant minutes of the Board relating to this investigation”, Mr. Adjei has been directed by the OSP.

But speaking on Kumasi-based Angel FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Joseph Yammin would have none of the interventions put in place by the president to unravel the allegations against Mr A.B Adjei, saying he would eventually be cleared of any wrongdoing, in like manner of the cases of Pius Enam Hadzide, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang and others who have been accused of corruption under this regime because the president “lacks the moral courage to terminate” his appointment.
