Murder of Teacher: Education Minister scolds striking teachers at Asiakwa

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Education Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Education Minister

Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has reprimanded striking teachers of Asiakwa with caution for them to speak the truth about the cause of death of their colleague teacher who was assaulted and killed by some six teenagers in the town.

The Teachers took to social media to lament the seeming neglect by authorities after one of them George Bosompem was attacked four days after he went to an information centre to caution the youth from smoking marijuana and defecating in classrooms to avert prosecution.

Speaking during a visit to the school, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh reprimanded the teachers on the possible impact of their protest on the profession.

“If you start by shouting and get the sympathy of the whole country that pupils or students have beaten teacher to death and it is ultimately revealed that it is not students but outsiders what have you done to the profession you so are involved. Let the truth be our watchword, like I said I will work even though I’ll not shout to make sure that those who are involved are punished. That is the important thing.”
