The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu has dismissed claims he is receiving huge cash from DCE applicants with a promise to influence their appointments.

He states that he is not the ultimate decider on who becomes a District Chief Executive (DCE) in the region and therefore cannot be the one alleged to be selling the positions to prospective applicants as claimed.

“If anyone claims I have taken money from him and promised such a person a position as a DCE know that he is lying. DCE post is not like groundnuts we go to the market to buy. I challenge them to prove that I have taken monies from them”, he denied on Tamale-based Diamond Fm.

The outspoken chairman said there are laid down procedures and processes by the party for persons seeking to be appointed DCEs to follow and that claims he is twisting the process in his favor for monetary gains are false .

There have reports of some constituency executives cashing on the desire of some persons to become DCEs in making money between GH¢30,000 and GH¢50,000 under the guise of the amount being used to influence authorities .

But Mr Bugri Naabu said the said constituency executives are doing so in their own volition and not received any backing of his office warning that once they are caught, they would dealt with as pure criminals and not party persons.

“Why will people be this criminally minded that they can go about extorting monies promising others DCE positions when they have no such authority”, he asked.
