I am not a ‘stranger’ in the NPP - General Secretary hopeful

An aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Richard Ahiagbah, has discounted claims, mostly from the camp of his contender, that he is not known in the party.

Mr. Ahiagbah believes those claims have been purposely crafted by his contender out of fear of his being in the race.

He dared those doubting that he is a known figure in the party to cross check with President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, his contribution to the governing party.

“I will not want to speak to this but since you have raised it, let me tell those who are saying that to get in touch with the president and his vice. They know what I have done for the party, they know me and the delegates also know me.

“These people where were they when we were fighting for the party since 1992 in the dreaded Ketu South, Asutifi South and even at Alajo here in Accra”, he told Onua FM.

Mr. Ahiagbah cautioned his detractors to focus on a clean campaign devoid of character assassination.

He promised delegates strategic plans that will ensure that the party retains power in 2020 and beyond.

“Our party has come a long way and gone through many changes, so it is time for the delegates to make this two decisions, either to maintain their current state of trying to reach their General Secretary but cannot, which smacks of neglect or voting for someone who never forgot about the grassroots.

“Is it sitting in Accra writing press releases or speaking on radio that makes you an effective General Secretary”, he wondered.

Asked if he thinks the current acting General Secretary of the party has done a poor job, Richard Ahiagbah only retorted “the evidence is clear”.

The Volta region has always been a stronghold for the NDC but Richard Ahiagbah promises a change of status quo.

He believes that under his stewardship as the General Secretary, NPP will deliver 10 parliamentary seats for the NPP in the Volta region.

“It is doable, it is possible. I am from the region and I know that during my tenure as the General Secretary NPP will win 10 sits from the Volta Region”

But how does he plan to achieve this, Richard Ahiagbah noted “Not by my might but hard works will eventually pay”
