Gambaga Youth Association donates dining furniture to Gambaga Girls SHS

The Gambaga Youth Association (GAMYA) was on December 27th-29th 2019 successfully celebrated its second edition of annual homecoming with a theme dubbed: Harnessing Youth Potentials for Socio-economic Development Through Education.

A set of 20 dining tables and 40 benches was donated to the Gambaga Girls High School to celebrates the theme.

The 2019 edition, saw a massive attendance from the folks of Gambaga leaving in and outside Ghana coming home to reunite with families and friends whom many have seen for decades.

As part of the activities to commemorates the event, the Association health team undertook a massive medical screening excises which saw over 2,000 adults and about 1,000 children screened and treated for various diseases from medical officers heals from Gambaga.

Other Activities includes: keep fit excises, general cleaning of the town, educational debates and quiz among school children, football games and Langa a local game practiced by the people of Gambaga and other cultural dancing among others.

Flagship of the programs was on the 29th December 2019 in the town hall meeting, where dignitaries including business men from the area such as: Mr. Sumaila Mesuna C.E.O of Naagamni Oil Ghana Ltd., Mr. Fataw Balewa MD of Action Marine Ltd., Mr. Huudu Mesuna Chairman of Deliman Group, Alhaji Fuudu Patience and many more.

An Educational Endowment Fund was Launched by the Association which generated over 100,000.00 Ghana Cedis as seed capital to help the needy but brilliant students from Gambaga and its communities.

In his welcome address, the Local GAMYA Chairman Mr. Musah Gariba appealed to the people of Gambaga to stop politicization of the Association and outlined the key objectives of the Association which includes: Non-Political, Non-Tribal and Non-Religious and therefore stands for everyone in the area and must be supported in all endeavors.

He further stated that, GAMYA is now the mouth piece of Gambaga and its communities for development and members should be thankful to the good Lord for blessing the town with such a great Association worth of emulating by other communities in the Region.

Abdul-Rahaman Osman in his key note address, entreats the youth to desist from drugs and alcoholism abuses and stay focus on their education as it’s the only tool to install moral virtues in their lives and also to help eliminate poverty in the area.

He further appeals to the good people of Gambaga to see politics as a tool for socio- economic development and not as a war weapon use for attacking and insulting one another and appeal to the youth to be law abiding citizens.

He also appeals to the government to try as a matter of urgency and complete the Gambaga Training College started by the previous government to enable enrolment in the area so as to help many Ghanaian access tertiary education as many more students turns out from the Senior High Schools chasing for the limited spaces in our tertiary institutions in the country.

Rev. George Agado The National Service Secretariat (NSS) Boss in the Northern Region who’s doubles as a proud son of Gambaga, in his motivational message encouraged the youth to take up education very serious and should not use poverty as a quandary to hinder their God given talents.

He emphasis the need to be self-discipline and respect to the elderly. He recounted how they could walk several of miles to school and did not see poverty as a barrier for their quest to educational success.

Dr. Musah Issahaku Yamba a renowned and retired educationist from Gambaga took his turn and outlined the historical norms of Mamprugu and how Islam in present day Ghana started from Gambaga. Many could not hide their excitements and gave him a standing ovation.

Other speakers include the Deputy Minister of North East Region Hon. Tia Tahiru, The Chief of Gambaga, The Chief Imam and other religious schoolers of the area all took their turns and advised the youth to eschew negatives inclinations and see education as the panacea for developing Gambaga and Mampurugu at large.

The MCE of East Mamprugu Municipality Hon. Abdul Basit Danladi also assured the people of government commitment to bringing development to the area and appeal to the youth to take up the opportunities that will come along.

He also outlined the water project government is undertaking to solve the perianal water problem bedeviled the community for so many years now.

Goodwill messages was delivered from both Regional Chairmen of NPP and NDC, and they all appeal to the people of Gambaga to keep this unity because what GAMYA is doing worth so much emulating by other communities in the North East Region, and this is how people can hold governments for developments in their communities.
