China-based striker Frank Acheampong has pulled out of Ghana's squad ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya because of an eye problem.

The Tianjin Teda star was granted permission by head coach Kwesi Appiah to leave the team's camp in Nairobi.

He is said to have suffered an acute eye problem and was under treatment since joining the Black Stars camp in Addis Ababa on Tuesday.

Acheampong is to travel to Europe for emergency eye treatment after complaining the situation was getting worse.

"I am aware he has an eye problem that was being managed but his condition did not improve and he had to fly to Europe to see his eye specialist, " Dr Adomako, Black Stars team doctor said.

Acheampong has been one of Ghana's top performers abroad this season after banging in 13 goals in the Chinese Super League.
