Mr. Anthony Kusi Boafo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Public Sector Reforms has described the first ever appointed Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Ghana, Martin Amidu as ‘fair’.

“That is his character, what he seeks in this world is fairness. This is what Ghanaians will remember him for”, he said.

He also urged the newly appointed Special Prosecutor to do his work conscientiously so that he could be remembered in the world adding that, “Whatever one stands for, God would help you through”.

According to Mr. Boafo, though the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is in power, he thinks Mr. Amidu has gotten his share of the Nana Addo’s government.

Mr. Kusi Boafo named Mr. Amidu among three other members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) which includes; Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Prof. Kwesi Botwey as people who have good records when it comes to ‘character’ in public service.

“I have been praying for him to become president of the republic before I die but even if it does not come through, I think the job given him is enough”.

Mr. Amidu, a man who has earned the nickname ‘Citizen Vigilante’ for his no-nonsense stance and campaign against corruption particularly in his own party National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, was named by President Akufo-Addo on Thursday, after an emergency cabinet meeting at the Flagstaff House pending parliamentary approval

The Office of the Special Prosecutor will have the mandate to investigate and prosecute cases of alleged corruption under the Public Procurement Act 203 Act 63 and other corruption-related offenses implicating public officers, political office holders and their accomplices in the public sector.
