One Yaw Annor, a unit committee member with Debkyira-Boase has been arrested in possession of the foreign made pistol belonging to the late Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama who was killed during a mob attack on Monday in the area.

The suspect who had fled to the Ashanti Regional town of Asaman turned himself together with William Baah a teacher and the assemblyman for the area on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrest of the two brings to 7 the total number of suspects who have been arrested and are expected to be arraigned before court today June 1, 2017 and may be remanded for further investigations to be conducted into the incident.

The others arrested include; William Baah Bismark Donkor, Phillip Badu, Kofi Nyame, Anthony Amoah and Kofi Badu.

Major General Obed Akwa, Chief of Defense Staff has also however denied claims by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Denkyira West Daniel Appianin, that the late Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama and his team were protecting illegal Chinese miners.

According to him, the deceased soldier was on sanctioned military duties and therefore described his claims as unfounded.

“Let me place on record that Captain Maxwell Mahama Adams and his colleagues were on sanctioned duties in the area and not there to protect illegal Chinese miners as claimed”, he told Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia when he visited the bereaved family at Burma Camp on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Major General Obed Akwa is expected to meet officers and men of the 5BN at Burma Camp later today to brief them on the unfortunate development.
