The funeral of the late Major Maxwell Adams Mahama was well-attended by dignitaries from all walks of life in Ghana.

The deceased, who was a nephew of former president John Dramani Mahama, was killed by some residents of Denkyira-Obuasi.

Reports indicated that they had lynched the military officer who was on his regular morning jogging after a snail seller mistook him for an armed robber.

Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana, was part of the government officials who attended the state burial of the military officer.

In a tribute by government, read by the vice presidents, the slain officer was described as “a soldier’s soldier” who “laid down his life for the people he serves”.

The Vice President proceeded to comfort John Mahama as he gave his condolences to members of the Mahama family.

The photo of the two ignited a feeling of unity among several Ghanaians online.

However, Ghanaian politician, Akua Donkor, has stated that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is responsible for the killing of the late Maxwell Mahama.
