Akufo-Addo is determined to achieve a Ghana Beyond Aid – Ursula Owusu

Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has reiterated government’s resolve to achieving a Ghana Beyond Aid.

According to her, it has always been the vision of President Akufo-Addo to move Ghana from the status of a developing country to that of a developed one; so Ghana can be a beacon for other African countries in the sub-region.

Stressing how that can be achieved, the Minister said the Akufo-Addo-led government has rolled out major policies in the various sectors that would boost the economy and place the country on the ranks as some developed countries in the world in some few years to come.

“He says we shouldn’t just be a developing country but he believes that if we put in place the right amount of work build the right foundations and build the Ghana Beyond Aid, we can be amongst the ranks of the developed countries and be the go-to country for all things development in the sub-region”, she stated.

Showering praises on President Akufo-Addo and describing his love for the country, Ursula Owusu said “I say that my only boss in life has been His Excellency the President. Just this morning, we were saying that he should share a little bit of what drives him and makes him grow because he’s indefectible and he’s driven by passion to see this country take its rightful place among the committee of nations and he has infinite faith and belief in our abilities to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps charged our own destiny and be a force to reckon with in the world. And he believes we can do it but we can’t do it alone, he needs all of you CEOs to also do your bit”.

Speaking at the maiden Ghana Industry CEO Awards, the Communications Minister urged the CEOs at the event to help President Akufo-Addo achieve his vision by frowning upon corruption and working effectively to boost the economy and improve the standards of living of people in the country.



On Friday, December 7, several CEOs in the country were honoured and rewarded for their hard work and dedication to the country.

Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA); Prof. Abednego Okoe Amartey emerged as the best CEO in the Education sector, Stanbic Bank boss; Alhassan Andani won the best CEO in the Banking Sector and the General Manager of Accra City Hotel, with Roman Krabel taking home the best CEO in the Hospitability and Tourism sector.

Former Presidents, Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor were also given Lifetime Achievement Awards for their immense contributions to the country.

The maiden Ghana Industry CEO Awards aimed at identifying and publicly recognizing the most outstanding CEOS across 19 delineated sectors of the economy with a view to encouraging improved corporate governance and institutional leadership standards in the country.
