Members of Parliament (MPs) have been admonished to do self-introspect and find out why many Ghanaians are kicking against the 450-seater new parliamentary chamber worth $200m to enable them to carry their functions well as lawmakers.

“When the Executives felt they have outlived the Castle, they put Jubilee House. The judiciary has new Supreme Court and beautiful High Courts. So why the opposition to this one [new Chamber]?”, Lawyer Ace Anan Ankomah quizzed Joy Fm’s news analysis programme, Newsfile.

According to the Public Interest Advocate, Ghanaians do currently do not appreciate the works of their MPs hence, unanimous decision to kick against plans by Parliament to establish a new parliamentary chamber which aims to make their work easier.

“Ghanaians have questions and maybe if they appreciate what you are doing, they will appreciate why you need offices”, Private legal practitioner, Ace Anan Ankomah has opined on the show monitored by MyNewsGh.com,

According to him, there is a big disconnection between the 275 MPs and their constituents and until that gap is bridged, lawmakers in Ghana will never have the support of the people to build a new chamber.

“I am suggesting to Parliament that there is a disconnection between you and us. There is a disconnection you are not identifying”, he pointed out.
