Fan Milk donates towards National Sanitation Day

Fan Milk Ghana Limited has donated tools valued at GH¢11,400.00 to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) towards the 11th National Sanitation Day (NSD), to be held in Accra.

The tools include 100 shovels, 100 long brooms, 100 rakes, 100 wellington boots and 100 Fan Milk branded T-Shirts to be distributed to the various metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) in the Greater Accra Region towards the exercise.

Presenting the items, the Deputy Human Resource Manager of Fan Milk, Mr Daniel K. Obiri said the company cares about the health of the citizens it serves.

He said the donation was in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility, and pledged his outfit’s unflinching support towards the NSD exercise, instituted by MLGRD to curb insanitary conditions in Ghana.

Mr Obiri therefore appealed to Ghanaians to participate in the next NSD schedule for October 3, to make it a success.

Alhaji Collins Dauda, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, said the main aim of the NSD campaign is not necessarily how many people would participate on the scheduled day, but to inculcate good sanitary practices and attitudes in Ghanaians.

“It is also to realise that insanitary environments could lead to the outbreak of pandemics in the country.”

He said the NSD has come to stay, and expressed the hope that the attitude of the citizenry towards filth and environmental health would change.

Alhaji Dauda applauded Fan Milk for the laudable initiative, and appealed to Ghanaians to continuously support the exercise.

He said the MLGRD does not want money, but the necessary tools that would enable people to clean their surroundings.

Alhaji Dauda appealed to other institutions to emulate the good works of Fan Milk to help combat filth in Ghana.

The Minister on behalf of the Ministry also donated 10,000 litre bins to the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council towards the exercise.
