Ghana Has Lost an Illustrious Son, H.E. Alhaji Aliu Mahama – NPP-USA

Friday, November 16th 2012 has found its way into the annals of our nation’s history on a very sad note; it was indeed a “dark” Friday!


The day was greeted with tears and sorrow. Fathers, mothers, sons and daughters of our land were left in a state of confusion. The question “Oh God, why?” was on the lips of every soul. This was because one of the baobab trees of the land had fallen.


His Excellency (H.E.) Alhaji Aliu Mahama, former vice president of the republic, was an affable person with a high sense humility. He was industrious and visionary. He was a successful businessman and entrepreneur. He served his country with all his strength. He rose through the ranks of civil service. His penchant to human development within our society knew no boundaries.
It was on these solid records, which necessitated his call by his political party – the NPP – to partner former President John Agyekum Kufuor on a ticket that opened a new chapter in the history of our nation, and injected an immeasurable impetus and a new paradigm in the realm of good governance.
He distinguished himself exceptionally well during his time in office as the vice president. His conduct was without blemish. Like Caesar’s wife, he posited himself beyond suspicion. He served his country very well.
We are heavy hearted and it was with deep sorrow that we received words on his passing, exactly a week ago. Our heart goes out to the entire nation in general, especially the NPP fraternity both home and abroad, and particularly his family members. It is our prayer that the good Allah / Lord receive him in his bosom and grant him eternal rest.
As we mourn H.E. Alhaji Aliu Mahama, let us be reminded of his dedication and service to mother Ghana and humanity. Let us be encouraged by his deeds and emulate his exemplary life. Let us do our best for our nation.
To the NPP, it is now bestowed on us to work feverishly for victory and in part glorify H.E. Alhaji Aliu Mahama, who not too long ago was on our campaign trail massively canvassing for votes for the party. He was determined to ensure the materialization of the transformation agenda of Nana Akufo-Addo – that will move the country forward. He was poised for victory in the impending elections and worked assiduously towards that, and so should we!!!
He lived a fulfilled live. Thus, memories of him will continue to linger on our minds till we meet again. We will greatly miss him.
May the soul of H.E. Alhaji Aliu Mahama rest in perfect peace.
