Ghanaians in France Pained by Melcom Tragedy

Following the sad news of the crumble down of the Melcom Shopping centre located near the Achimota Neoplan station in Accra the capital town of Ghana, the Ghanaian

Community in France wish to express pain and concern. It is a disaster of national and international dimension.

This happened in the morning of the 7/11/2012 exactly one month ahead of our Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

As of today, we've been informed of several deaths and numerous rescued but injured victims.

To the bereaved families we express heartfelt condolences. To the injured victims, we thank God for their lives and wish them rapid recovery.

To the people and Government of Ghana, we express sincere and full-hearted solidarity. Even though we live in foreign lands, we remain full-hearted Ghanaians.

We received this news with profound regrets and deepest of sorrow. It is our hope that God will grant our government and local authorities courage, wisdom and fortitude as they handle this unexpected tragedy.
