Nana Akwesi Appiah's Birthday Celebrations

The spot light was beamed on one of Chicago?s respectable elders, Nana Akwasi Appiah, the former Asantefuohene of Chicago, at the Community Cultural Center on ?83rd and Ellis?, on Saturday, October 6 2007. The event was one of the most elegant and well attended 50th birthday celebrations in Chicago with over 400 attendees.



They flew in to Chicago from other States in the USA, Canada, Europe and Ghana to help wish Nana Akwesi Appiah a momentous birthday celebrations. Among the special invited guests were Nana Addae Baffour and Ohemaa Abena Amponsah, Asantefuo hene and hemaa of Chicago, Nana Amponsah, Asantefuohene of New York, who donated a piece of cloth to the celebrant , Mr. Kojo Bonsu, CEO and Publisher of Agoo Magazine , The Ghanaian Traditional Council in Chicago , The Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago represented by the President,Mr. Reuben Hadzide, the President Elect, Mr. John Henry Assabill and Mr Stephen Somuah, the representative of Okwahu United on the Council and Mr and Mrs. Berko Akoto of the African Spectrum.

Organized by Nana Akwasi Appiah, his family and friends, the party featured three top deejays each armed with the latest arsenal of Hip-Life, Hip-Hop, old school and funk, digitally remixed by each deejay for the outmost enjoyment of the celebrant crowd.

The event climaxed when Nana Akwasi Appiah, supported by family and friends took to the floor and delivered some spectacular Adowa moves proving that he was a prolific Adowa dancer!
