NDC UK/Ireland youth urges government to remain focused

on the transformation agenda.

We have followed with interest, public discussions resulting from last week's state of the nation address by the President, John Dramani Mahama. We have also been intrigued by the opposition's lame attempt to accrue to themselves an intellectual property with regard to the idea of free SHS education for the Ghanaian pupil. As that has woefully failed, they have staged a new jaundiced attempt at casting doubt on the funding source for the free SHS programme.
But we appeal to the President and his appointees to remain resolute and follow through with every detail of the transformation agenda. The task is an arduous one. But we are confident that our great party, in government, has capable men and women to deliver admirable results for Ghana.

Indeed we are clear about the vision of our leader and unfazed by the activities of propagandist detractors in the public space. With this clarity of purpose, when we finally emerge from the woods, the ill-wishers will perpetually remain consigned as relics of amateur politics.

Even in the light of the challenging circumstances of our economy, a great part of which we inherited from the profligate New Patriotic Party, we remain satisfied that there is no better alternative than the transformation agenda being pursued by the NDC government.

We recognise the fact that as a country we consume more foreign produce than the domestic ones. This clearly disadvantages our local manufacturers. We are therefore encouraged by the government's deliberate steps to curtail the dollarization of the economy. The plan to set up a trade commission is particularly commendable as we believe it will provide protection for our local manufacturers.

We also wish to encourage government to see through the massive infrastructure projects going on across the country, with particular commitment to energy, transport, education and health.
Once all these are attained the Ghanaian business will immensely benefit from a better operating environment and lower costs leading to improvements in the employment situation for our country's active youth.
We call on the grassroots of our party to continue to keep faith with leadership, through this period of change. We must encourage them, without patronage, to succeed. Because if they fail, we fail. And if they succeed we succeed too.
