Individual donates to Nkoranza South Directorate of Health

Nkoranza(B/A), May 6, GNA - Mrs. Comfort Kumah, a UK-based citizen of Baanofour in the Nkoranza South District of the Brong-Ahafo Region has donated 13 hospital beds including three theatre beds with mattresses and some science books valued at about 30,000 Ghana Cedis to the management of the Nkoranza South District Directorates of Health and Education.

Mrs. Kumah popularly called Afia Abokyi has also funded the construction and furnishing of the local Methodist

church at Baanofour at a cost of more than 20,000 Ghana Cedis. She said the donation was to offer support towards the provision of quality health services to the people and to

promote the education of the youth in the district "since the development= of every place depends on the good health

and education of the people". Madam Kumah said she would continue to support the people in the are= a to help improve their living standards. Mr. Richard Kwesi Henneh, Nkoranza South District Director of Health=

Services who received the items commended

Mrs. Kumah for the kind gesture. He noted that the items had come at a time when health facilities in=

the district lacked beds for the admission of

patients. The District Director of Health Services paid special tribute to the=

Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South

Constituency, Mr. Kwame Amporfo-Twumasi, for funding the construction of a 20,000 Ghana Cedis nurses' quarters at

Nkwabeng. Mr. Henneh recalled an interaction the MP had with some Nkoranza citizens based in Japan and Italy, following

which they donated an ambulance to the Nkoranza Health Centre. Mr. Henneh announced that the major challenge faced by the Health facilities at Nkoranza were space and

equipment, and called on other citizens to emulate Mrs. Kumah and offer their "widows mite" to improve the situation. Mr. Adjei Yeboah, Nkoranza South District Deputy Director of Educati= on in-charge of Finance and Administration,

who received the educational materials, commended the donor for her love and concern for the education of the youth

in the district. Mr. Yeboah expressed gratitude to the MP, Mr Amporfo- Twumasi, for spearheading the provision of a number of

educational facilities in the communities. Mr. Amporfo-Twumasi said since he had decided to serve his constituency, he would work hard, to ensure that the

people enjoyed the necessary facilities that would enable them to move forward. He expressed appreciation for the efforts of Nkoranza citizens who a= re resident abroad for their immense

contributions towards the development of the area and urged them to maint= ain such spirit. Nana Saa Darte, queenmother of Baanofour, who witnessed the handing over ceremony, said the provision of the

Methodist church building, the hospital beds and school materials, by Mrs= .. Kumah would ever remain in the minds of

the people of Nkoranza.
