Barely two weeks after the New Patriotic Party held its parliamentary primaries, the Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah, admitted that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Videos of him celebrating after retaining his seat have resurfaced on social media.

In the videos, the MP can be seen singing and dancing to loud music without a nose mask as some people cheered him in very close proximity.

The videos surfaced on social media, especially Facebook, with many questioning why the MP failed to adhere to the safety protocols during the party’s parliamentary primaries even if it has not been confirmed he had coronavirus.

Dr. Anthony Nsiah, Presidential Advisor on Health, has said that singing can be another mode of transmitting the coronavirus.

“When people sing in churches the possibility of saliva coming out from their mouths will make it easy for the virus to spread,” he said.

Now the question is: did Carlos Ahenkorah expose constituents to coronavirus by jubilating without nose mask?

Meanwhile, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has resigned from office as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, the Presidency has announced.

His resignation comes barely hours after he admitted in an interview that he visited some voters registration centres in his constituency despite knowing he has tested positive for Coronavirus.

Below is a video of Carlos Ahenkorah jubilating and singing after his victory.
