Former Vice-President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), George Afriyie, says the Coronavirus pandemic has presented the football community another opportunity to make some changes in the statutes of the FA and also prepare ahead of a new season.

The President for Division One club, Planners Athletic Club, says the Ghana Football Association should use this opportunity to call Congress and amend some statutes in their regulations.

“The Covid-19 has offered us a good opportunity to make things better. Prior to the elections there were a lot of things that went wrong under the Normalisation Committee in the new statues which has to be corrected”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya in on virtual meeting on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

“So we start the league on a good note. Most of our pitches that we play on doesn’t even meet the club licensing requirements, he added.

George Afriyie also suggested that the decision to truncate the season should be decided by Congress and not only the Executive Council.

“The matter to truncate the 2019/20 football season is a matter for Congress”.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to take a decision on the future of the 2019/20 football season on June 30 after consultations with government and health authorities.
