Africa Oye line-up announced for Liverpool (UK) festival

Africa Oyé is the UK's largest free celebration of African and Caribbean music and culture, and has brought some of the biggest names in music from Africa (including Ghana), the Caribbean and South America to Liverpool for over two decades.
Excitement is rising as Africa Oyé fast approaches for the summer of 2013 and with another stellar festival set to take place, Africa Oyé has now revealed their line-up of acts from across Africa and the wider Diaspora.
Acts include the great Mokoomba (Zimbabwe) who have recently been called ‘Africa’s most internationally successful young band’ by The Guardian. With their debut international album 'Rising Tide', Mokoomba's strong and modern take on the music of their roots with hints of reggae, soukou, Latin and other influences will no doubt have crowds dancing in Sefton Park in June.
Dele Sosimi (Nigeria) is a returning act to the festival. He is not only a top Afrobeat musician; he is also a director, composer, band leader and guest lecturer at many respected institutions. Dele's active nature will run through his blend of complex funk grooves, Nigerian traditional music, and African percussion, which underpin the jazz horns and solos from other instruments, as well as rhythmical singing.
Other acts include exciting Afro-Cuban sounds from Son Yambu (Cuba) as well as rock tinged cross-rhythms from Osibisa (Ghana). Oyé's excellent 2013 line-up promises to be a fantastic festival and will not be one to miss!
