A Former US-based Ghanaian Retiree Medical Doctor Threatens Someone in Kumawu

One Dr Kofi Yemo has returned to Ghana after retiring from active medical practice in the United States. He is a subject of Kumawu and of both Ga paternal and Ashanti maternal parentage. He has been enthroned as the Chief of Philanthropy (“Boafohene”) in Kumawu by the alleged Kumawuhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua.


This retired Medical Doctor who should have known much better, rather decided to take the laws into his own hands to act in a lawless and irresponsible manner. He is alleged to have confronted one Mr Achina, the owner and operator of an Information Centre at Kumawu-Etia. He approached him with shameless audacity, ordered him to dismantle his Information Centre equipment and windup his operations or else, he would forcibly dismantle the equipment himself.


He said he does not understand why Mr Achina greets specific persons on air during his morning programmes. The persons he is alleged to greet are deemed by the few supporters of the purported Kumawuhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua, including Dr Kofi Yemo, as the rivals or enemies of the alleged chief who is despised by about 95% of Kumawuman subjects.


This forceful, but completely senseless remonstration against the radio owner and presenter by Dr Kofi Yemo resulted in some fracas which was joined by some passers-by who would have taught him a bitter lesson in the language he himself understands very well. He was only saved by two policemen present, I understand.


He screamed repeatedly saying he is not like Kumawuhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua and his supporters who have sat down for far too long doing nothing while Achina continues to greet his rivals on his radio programmes. He is going to be a different person altogether. He will dismantle the Information Centre at all costs, even if it has to go as far as the Supreme Court.


He later went to the Kumawu District Centre and requested the District Chief Executive to order for the closure of the Information Centre. Sadly, he did not have his evil wish granted. Again, he threatened to pursue the case as far as the Supreme Court. He is yet to lodge his first court complaint if he is not just being loud-mouthed but hollow in substance.


Who are these alleged rivals? They are those sub-chiefs who Dr Yaw Sarfo (“Kumawuhene Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua) once claimed to have deposed on orders by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II but only for his decision and action to be rubbished by the Court hence their court-ordered reinstatement.


He has solicited the help of the alleged Kumawuhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua and his sub-chiefs to put pressure on the DCE to ensure that the Information Centre ceases its operations. Additionally, Dr Yemo has threatened to stop all works on a public toilet he is constructing for the community at Kumawu-Etia if Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua and his elders did not take all means possible to force Achina out of his job. Subsequently, Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua and his sub-chiefs invited Achina to Kumawu Palace on Tuesday 19 July 2016 but he did not turn up.


I wonder why Dr Yemo will behave so irresponsibly as if he has never had any formal education or ever resided in America to open him up to the laws and the consequences to suffer when you breach them. In case he had had no formal education, at least God or nature must have endowed him with common sense or wisdom that could have guided him to behave more responsibly within the confinements of the laws of the land.
