It has emerged that the 17-year-old boy who murdered his own mother in cold blood over a memory card was on drugs.

This came to light when Police at Manso Amenfi in the Wasa-Amenfi Central District of the Western Region discovered a substance suspected to be a marijuana from the room of the teenager.

A report filed by Metro FM's Awuku Addo on Ayehu program on Tuesday indicates, authorities in their quest to further investigate what might have ignited a teenager to kill his own mother, found the substance suspected to be marijuana when they entered into the room of the boy at J.Y No.1 near Wratrem, a community where the incident happened.

The report says Police upon further search in the room, found a tramadol drug, commonly called tramol.

According to Awuku Addo, the demand for the tramol drug among adolescent boys and girls in the area was very high.

He added that the use of drugs, alcoholism and sexual promiscuity among the youth were also very high.

Emmanuel Gyan on Monday, January 15 is said to have hit his 52-year-old mother, Faustina Agyeiwaa several times in the head with a pestle until she fell down, and thereafter he followed up with naked flames in attempts to burn her.
